Early Morning Stress and Time Management Skills

Hey guys. I guess I haven’t really written any kind of thorough blog since school started – so it’s been, like, a month.

To tell you the truth, I haven’t had such a good day today (and it’s only 8:30 in the morning). I’ve been feeling kind of stressed out lately. It’s completely my fault too. I try to make up reasons why it might be something else’s fault, but it’s really just that I don’t manage my time very well. I tend to waste a bunch of time and I feel like this is something a lot of people do and something that computers have brought us to being able to do really easily.

Here’s the deal: I like living in a really relaxed way (no stress, no deadlines), but like doesn’t seem to flow that way. When I read books they take me months and months to finish because I only read a little bit at a time. School doesn’t work this way. I have to finish reading a book in the next week and do a 10 page journal on quotes from it. That’s not completely unrealistic – I just like taking my time, slowly reading and digesting things. English has me reading a book for this journal project and a book for in-class discussion and quizzing. Since I tend to be really relaxed in my reading (slack off in my reading) this isn’t such a good thing for me. It’s funny how something I love so much, in this case reading, can stress me out.

Band has been stressing me out too. It takes up so much time. I don’t get home from practice until 6 or 6:30 most days. Since I like “relaxing” so much I tend to relax (waste time) and not do homework or reading or any of the things I should do. This crazy schedule for band has left me seriously thinking about getting out of it next year. It’s weird to me that something I love so much could stress me out.

Basically, I have a lot of organizing my time that I need to get on top of. It’s so easy to organize it, yet so hard to actually do it. Please be praying for me or something. And sorry if this blog has made your day a little bit grayer. I didn’t mean to bring you down or anything. Haha.

There’s some good stuff that’s happened to me too. I recently got a new cd called “Human” by the David Ramirez band. I think it’s probably one of the best cds I’ve gotten all year. You should seriously consider checking it out. Something else waaay suuuperr fun that I got to do the other day is recording drum parts for some songs by “The Alienators.” This is my good friend Ross’s band. Their music is pretty rockin’ but they don’t have a drummer, so I’m helping them out by recording some drum parts for them. It was probably one of the funnest things I’ve done in awhile. Check out the song, it should be on their myspace. It’s called “Freedom Song.”

Alright. That’s enough of this entry. I’m going to go now. Hope you all have a great weekend! God Bless!
